Cinematic close-up of a billion euro project

The Human Brain Project, launched in 2013 and funded with €1 billion over ten years by the European Commission, has a turbulent history. Fortunately, US film writer and director Noah Hutton was able to accompany it with his camera. On nature.com, Nature’s European correspondent, Alison Abbott, now reviews his newly released documentary “In Silico” and adds her own insights into the project, which “has left a trail of angry neuroscientists across Europe”.
